自動的にスライダーを上げるファスナーが登場

09月03日、株式会社TKKは自動的にスライダーを上げるファスナー"オートクローズファスナー"の開発に成功したと発表した。スーツのズボンやスラックスのファスナーに採用する予定だという。
オートクローズファスナー使用例
「特に社会人にとって、ズボンのチャックとは魔の入り口といえる。魔は無意識な心の隙間に入り込み、確実に暗黒の世界へ導くだろう。そしてそこに待ち受けている悪魔は、社会の窓全開という最大の悲劇を見せる。本人はもちろん周囲の人に対しても神経を無駄に使い、精神的な圧迫、疲労を与える。このような人生における危機を防止するために今回のファスナーを開発した」(株式会社TKK ファスニング事業部金型設計技術員 写会野 窓氏)
オートクローズファスナーと呼ばれているこのファスナーは、自動的にスライダーを上げ、チャックを確実に閉めてくれるという機能を持つという。ズボンをはいた後やチャックをおろした後にわざわざスライダーを上げることなく、数秒で閉まるようになっている。電池は必要なく、内蔵された発電機によってバッテリに蓄えられている。
「オートクローズファスナーの開発にあたり、最も苦労した点はスライダーを上げるための電気を何処から取得するのかということだった。開発当初はボタン型電池を搭載する方法やフレキシブルソーラーバッテリの採用なども考えたが、研究の結果、我々は画期的ともいえる電力を得ることができた。それが摩擦力超小型発電機である」(同氏)
摩擦力超小型発電機とはその名前の通り、摩擦によって電気を生み出す発電機だ。両足の太もも部分には圧電体セラミック素子が含まれる特殊な布が使用されており、右足と左足の動きによって摩擦が発生し、その結果電気が得られる。ファスナー部分に搭載されている超小型モータを動かし、スライダーを上げる仕組みだ。
「我々の独自のアンケート調査では、実に97%の社会人男性がチャックを閉め忘れるという事態に陥ったことがあるという結果が出た。また、97%のうちの半数以上が、チャックを全開にしたことによる影響があったと答えている」と同氏は伝える。
具体的な内容として、会社のおける失敗や取引先の喪失など、社会的信用の脱落に関することが多いという。中にはチャックが開いていた結果、様々な偶然が繋がり、セクハラへと発展。会社からはリストラされ、家庭は崩壊し、悲惨な人生への幕開けとなったと答えた人もいたというから事は重大だ。
同社によるアンケート結果(2005年 ファスナー白書より抜粋)
「しかし、オートクローズファスナーによってこれらの悲劇を未然に防ぎ、安心してズボンを履くことが出来るようになる。最近は足を長く見せるようなスーツが流行っているが、大事な部分はもっと根本にある」と同氏は熱く語る。
オートクローズファスナーにはもう1つ、高い安全性を保っていると同氏は説明する。「従来のチャックと比べて機械部分が存在するため、このスペースを安全のために有効活用することが出来た。つまり、シャツやパンツなどを挟めてしまうという事故も防げる」
悲惨な人生の幕を未然に閉じるためのオートクローズファスナーだが、提携するメーカーなどはまだ公開されていない。超小型といってもズボンやスラックスの股部分に搭載してるため、チャック部分に多少なりとも膨らみが存在する。別な危機が待ち受けている可能性があるために、各メーカーも採用を慎重に検討していると予測される。
